Around the Town

Students in first grade learned that their home of Seymour is filled with many agricultural influences.  First stop was Mrs. Williamson's home where students saw horses, calves, and goats.  Mrs. Williamson also saddled up horse and rode him around and demonstrated how horses know which direction to go.  It was very interesting learning about how horses and their trainers work together.

The second stop was viewing a windmill.  The Tractor Shop has a windmill so Cody Wright met us outside the shop and students learned how a windmill works.  Since it was a beautiful, calm day, Cody turned the windmill so the students could see how it turns in the wind.  And, of course, students saw the huge tractors that are used in farming.

The last stop was a trip to the Orsak cotton farm.  Students witnessed the process of stripping cotton and it was fascinating watching the huge cotton strippers do their job.
