Happy Halloween!

On Friday, October 28th, Seymour Elementary was invaded by witches, ghosts, and goblins!  Students wore their Halloween costumes and participated in the costume parade.  It was spooktacular fun!  McGruff the dog visited and encouraged the students to be safe while they were trick-or-treating.

Abilene Zoo Field Trip 2011

The Seymour Elementary first graders were absolutely ecstatic about our field trip to the Abilene Zoo!  Even an early departure at 7:30 a.m. didn't deter them from riding the ole yellow school bus to go see the animals!  Learning about animals and their habitats was fun in the classroom, but actually seeing them live and in person was even more exciting!  The monkeys were in fine form swinging from limb to limb in their cages, the lions were big and even roared loudly for us, the pink flamingos were pretty and posing, and everyone loved walking up the bridge to see the giraffes, up close and personal!  Everyone loved the Creepy Crawler Center observing slithering snakes and green frogs and other reptiles.
The zoo even offers a selection of animals that are native to Texas and that we sometimes see outdoors in Seymour!
After a morning at the zoo, we had a great time eating a picnic lunch at Fort Imagination and playing on the playground equipment.  It was a great day and memorable experience for everyone!
